Paizo Pathfinder Needs To Be Made Into A Movie Or Series
For years now we have been hearing how we need another Dungeons and Dragons movie but it needs to be better than the previous ones. Well if you want a great movie, or series I am here to tell you that it should be a Pathfinder movie. There are a lot of reasons that I think this could and most likely would work if done by a good studio and director. The first reason is that Pathfinder has some amazing Iconics for each class with established lore for the audience to learn and care about. The second reason is that the world of Golarion is rich with so many possibilities. A third reason is there are some amazing adventure paths like Rise of the Runelords that a lot of fans would probably go nuts over seeing on the big screen or on their big flat screen televisions. Humor me for a bit and think of all the possibilities!
Pathfinder Iconics Are Very Interesting
One of the best things about Pathfinders lore is the iconic characters for each class. Making a movie or series centered around them rather than new characters would be the best route to take. You could have flashbacks to their backstory to give the audience some perspective and context. One example could be how Amiri got her massive sword. Many fans of Pathfinder over the last decade already know and love these characters and this would only help in the long run.
Golarion Is An Amazing Setting
When you have a show the setting is very important. Look at Game of Thrones and how Westeros really helped tell that whole story. I think Golarion could also be a great setting for a tv show or movie. There is a lot of versatility within the setting and having a world as rich in lore as Golarion would be great. Imagine picking up in the Mwangi Expanse as one Iconic character learns of a friend needing help up in Cheliax. Maybe some Mantis Assassins are fighting another Iconic as they are trying to get this artifact before traveling to help their ally in Cheliax.
Paizo Is Known For Adventure Modules
Paizo has always been known for their adventure paths even before they made their own game system. The most popular one to date I believe is Rise of the Runelords. By the way if you have never seen their special edition version it is amazing and you should check it out sometime. Anyways back on topic here… They have other great adventures that would lend themselves to a movie or series really well. Mostly the latter but there would still be a lot of things that could probably be taken out for the sake of the movie or show. I know that I would absolutely love to watch this and I am sure that there are many fans out there who would love it too.
Could A Pathfinder Movie or Series Work?
Ultimately Paizo is a smart choice for anyone who wants to make the next great fantasy movie like Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, or even a show like Game of Thrones. Not only is the IP probably going to be far cheaper than the Dungeons and Dragons IP but it lends itself a little better to the medium I feel. That doesn’t mean a Dungeons and Dragons movie or show couldn’t be great but I think it is far easier with Pathfinder. So what do you think? Could you see this working nicely?
